There are big doings in Washington this weekend, as downtown kicks off the holiday season.

Today (Friday) is the opening of the Beaufort County Arts Council's Holiday Arts & Crafts Show at the Washington Civic Center from noon until 8:00. And at 8:00 at the Turnage Theater, there's a Heart of the City Holiday Concert by the Beaufort County Choral Society with the River City Ringers.

I told you I'd keep you informed on new items we're getting into the stores. Well, the new coffee is here! That's right, we've switched over to Counter Culture Coffee, selected and roasted in Durham, NC. You can find out more about them at their website - www.counterculturecoffee.com I'm reading a book about coffee and I'm finding there's a lot to learn. But it's fun. Just like learning about wine, there's geography and geology, botany and chemistry. And, just like wine, it all results in a tasty beverage with pleasant psychoactive qualities. We're starting with four regular and one decaf variety. And by way of introduction we're featuring Gayo of Sumatra at the Washington store and Karaba of Rwanda at the Back Bay Cafe. The cooler weather is coming...better have some great tasting coffee on hand.
